Transparent, Predictable Pay

We’ve moved to an hourly, gratuity-free pricing model that takes the guesswork out of your paycheck. Every service is priced on the hourly rate you set, and because we don’t accept tips, your income never depends on a client’s generosity.

Union is one of Durham’s most established and trusted salons. Our stylists refer clients to one another, so even if you’re new in town, your books will fill up right away.

A Tight-Knit Team

“We’re a family here” can be a red flag at a lot of workplaces. At Union, it’s simply how we operate: we show up for each other every day, in the studio and out of it. We get together regularly for team outings (join us if you like, skip it if you don’t), and there’s always someone in your corner.

What We’re Looking For in a Stylist

Every stylist at Union brings their own style and specialty, and that variety is part of what makes us who we are. What we share is a commitment to exceptional work and to taking care of the people around us.

• An active North Carolina cosmetology license, or eligibility to transfer your license to NC
• Strong technical foundations in cutting, color, or both, and a willingness to keep learning as trends and techniques evolve
• A client-focused approach: you listen closely, give honest recommendations, and make every guest feel welcome, heard, and cared for from consultation to checkout
• A team-oriented personality: you celebrate your coworkers’ wins, share knowledge freely, and pitch in whenever someone needs a hand
• Professionalism and reliability, from showing up on time to keeping your station clean and your appointments on track
• A commitment to Union’s values of fair pay, transparency, and treating everyone who walks through our doors with respect
